One of the most powerful arguments made for not believing, is the fact that churches are so segregated and yet the “body of Christ” teaches togetherness, what irony.  Sunday morning worship service is still one of the last strongholds for segregation in America, according to a publication by Christianity Today.  RadicallyChristian.com points out the division between churches of different denominations.  Is there such a separation amongst churches of the same denomination?  DesiringGod.org appears to recognize the same issue and discusses how “We Need Each Other” and how “Christian Fellowship as a Means of Perseverance to keep catastrophe from happening.  How important is unity as stated by Jesus?  Is segregation within the church an offence to God/ sin?

Matthew 23 is a warning against hypocrisy, “But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers”Romans 12 “Don’t be conformed to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds so that you can figure out what God’s will is—what is good and pleasing and mature”.  16 “Consider everyone as equal, and don’t think that you’re better than anyone else.  Instead, associate with people who have no status.  [..]”.  How does exclusion help the body to fulfill its commission?

How can a “church” function effectively if divided?  1 Corinthians  says that the body is made of many parts and that Christ is the head.  So why does it seem that churches are joisting to see which faith based organization is the top/ head?  Aren’t all churches the bride of Christ?  Has the “Church” been deceived by the serpent into eating a forbidden fruit?
